Throughout December, Oxford Castle & Prison's daily tours will be led by lantern light! As the nights grow longer, join their costumed tour guides for an atmospheric lantern-lit exploration of the history of Oxford Castle & Prison; from Viking raids and the Norman conquest to the Castle’s role in Georgian and Victorian era justice. In this seasonal treat you’ll hear the real stories of Oxford’s past, see the wintery lights and night sky of Oxford City from atop the 950-year-old St George’s tower, then delve deep down into the cells and crypt by flickering lantern light.
